Voyages: Traversing the White Space
Vol. 10 No. 1 (2023)In the call for papers for our 2023 issue, Pivot invited critical and creative work which approaches white space in an infinite variety of ways. Topics which deal with “Voyages: Traversing the White Space” could range from addressing the utilisation of white space as an experimental tool in creative writing to critical reflections on race in the literary canon.
The pieces in this issue confront the concept of traversing white space through representations and recreations of race, voyages, immigration, diversity, inclusion, and much, much more. Some authors approached the topic and corresponding themes directly, taking on white space and traversing it without deviation, while others adopted a meandering attitude to it.

Somatic Cartography & Stories: Mapping Meaning onto the Body
Vol. 9 No. 1 (2022)This issue of Pivot is the first to combine critical articles with various forms of creative writing and other media. Pivot's aim moving forward is to expand into a journal which combines critical thinking with creative expression and this issue represents the begining on a new chapter for the journal. "Somatic Cartography & Stories: Mapping Meaning onto the Body" was developed in collaboration with York University's English Graduate Student Association and uses the same title and theme as the associations' annual 2022 conference, which took place in May. Some of the critical articles from this issue come directly out of this conference but the papers represented here are not limited to what was presented at the conference.

World Fictions of Friendship in Critical Times
Vol. 8 No. 1 (2022)The papers in this special issue of Pivot come directly from a conference which used the same title and which was held in March 2022. This conference was co-organized by York University's English Department’s Graduate Diploma in World Literature and Humanities Department’s Graduate Diploma in Comparative Literature. The four articles showcased in this issue explore global representations on friendship and relationship building in the midst of difficult circumstances.
